Correction and Retraction

DINIKA: Academic Journal of Islamic Studies is committed to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the scholarly record. To uphold transparency and ethical publishing practices, the journal follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines in managing corrections and retractions.

1. Corrections

Corrections are issued when a minor error is identified in a published article that does not affect the overall results, conclusions, or scientific integrity of the work. These errors may include typographical mistakes, author name inaccuracies, or mislabeling of figures or tables.

  • Authors or readers who identify an error are encouraged to notify the editorial office promptly.

  • Once verified, the correction will be published as a “Corrigendum” (initiated by authors) or an “Erratum” (initiated by editors).

  • The correction notice will clearly describe the change made and will be linked to the original article to ensure transparency.

  • The original version of the article will remain accessible with a note indicating that a correction has been issued.

2. Retractions

A retraction is issued when a published article contains major errors or ethical violations that invalidate its findings or compromise the reliability of the scholarly record. Retractions may be necessary in cases of:

  • Evidence of fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism.

  • Duplicate publication or significant overlap with previously published work.

  • Unethical research practices, including violation of legal or institutional standards.

  • Major miscalculations or methodological flaws that render the results unreliable.

When retraction is deemed necessary:

  • The Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the Editorial Board and following COPE procedures, will make the final decision.

  • A Retraction Notice will be published in the next issue and linked to the original article on the journal website.

  • The notice will include the title, author(s), and reason for retraction but will avoid defamatory or accusatory language.

  • The retracted article will remain online to preserve the scholarly record but will be clearly marked as “Retracted” on each page.

3. Withdrawal (Pre-publication Stage)

Authors may request withdrawal of their manuscript before publication for valid reasons (e.g., major errors or ethical concerns). However, withdrawal requests after peer review must include a written explanation, and approval is at the discretion of the editorial board. Repeated or unethical withdrawal requests may result in submission restrictions for future publications.

4. Responsibility and Transparency

The editorial team of DINIKA: Academic Journal of Islamic Studies holds the right to issue corrections, retractions, or editorial notes to maintain the journal’s academic integrity. These actions are intended to correct the record, not to punish authors, and will always be conducted with fairness, professionalism, and transparency in accordance with COPE’s Core Practices.
