This study explores the relationship between self-efficacy and public speaking anxiety among 9th-grade students at Madrasah Tsanawiyyah Negeri 4 Karanganyar. Understanding this relationship is essential for developing strategies to enhance students' speaking skills and reduce anxiety. The primary objective of this research is to determine the influence of self-efficacy on public speaking anxiety among 9th-grade students. A quantitative research approach was adopted, utilizing Likert scale questionnaires for data collection. The population consisted of 155 9th-grade students, from which a sample of 61 students was randomly selected using the Slovin formula. Data were collected using Bandura's (1997) General Self-Efficacy Scale and Lang's (1971) Public Speaking Anxiety Scale. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 25. The study found a significant negative relationship between self-efficacy and public speaking anxiety. Students with higher self-efficacy levels exhibited lower levels of anxiety when speaking in public. Specifically, self-efficacy accounted for 79.9% of the variance in public speaking anxiety, with a t-value of -15.291 and a significance level of p < 0.05. These findings indicate that enhancing self-efficacy can substantially reduce public speaking anxiety among students. Improving students' self-efficacy is crucial in mitigating public speaking anxiety, which in turn can enhance their academic performance and confidence. The implications of this study suggest that educational institutions should implement programs and strategies aimed at boosting self-efficacy to create a supportive learning environment. Future research should explore additional factors influencing public speaking anxiety and develop comprehensive approaches to address this issue.
Intiha Bima Tafriha, Moh. This influence can significantly shape how meaning is conveyed to audiences from different cultural backgrounds. This study aims to analyze the translation techniques used in the subtitles of the film "Theeb" through a pragmatic approach to understand how translators handle the intentions behind the film's dialogue. A descriptive qualitative research method is employed to analyze the conversation transcripts from the film. Speech act theory is applied to explore how various translation techniques are used to convey the original intentions of the dialogue accurately. The findings reveal that seven out of the eighteen translation techniques proposed by Albir and Molina are utilized in the film: literal translation, modulation, idiomatic, established equivalent, compensation, and adaptation. This research provides insights into the application of speech act theory in film subtitle translation and identifies effective techniques for accurately conveying speech intentions in different cultural and linguistic contexts. The study underscores the necessity for translators to consider cultural context and ideologies in translation to ensure that the subtitles are both accurate and culturally sensitive. Further research should explore translation techniques in films from diverse cultural backgrounds and examine the impact of translators' cultural backgrounds on their translation choices.
Siti Sholihatun Nisa, Muhammad Nur Kholis Copyright (c) 2024 Siti Sholihatun Nisa, Muhammad Nur Kholis https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/athla/article/view/9537 Wed, 12 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Implementation of Active Learning in Nahwu Learning Using Al-Miftah Lil 'Ulum Book at Student Islamic Boarding School/ Penerapan Active Learning dalam Pembelajaran Nahwu Menggunakan Buku Al-Miftah Lil ‘Ulum di Pondok Pesantren Mahasiswa https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/athla/article/view/9515
Textbooks are important in the learning process, as well as teaching nahwu. This can be influenced by several factors, therefore the researcher wants to conduct an experiment using the word square model when learning Arabic. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of using the word square model to improve the mastery of Arabic vocabulary in class VIII B MTs Negeri 2 Surakarta. This study uses a quantitative method of experiments with a one-group pre-test post-test design. The sample in this study is 31 students in class VIIIB. The data collection techniques are tests and documentation. The results of the study show that the word square model is declared effective in increasing vocabulary mastery. This can also be seen from the increase in student learning outcomes before and after the use of the word square model, namely the average score before using the word square 70 and the average after using the word square is 88. Based on the results of the hypothesis test using a paired sample t-test with a significant value result of 0.00 < 0.05. Therefore, Ho was accepted and H1 was rejected. Ho here is that there is an increase in vocabulary mastery in grade VIII B students of MTs Negeri 2 Surakarta.
Putri Awaliah Fauzi, Muhammad Zaenuri Copyright (c) 2024 Putri Awaliah Fauzi, Muhammad Zaenuri https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/athla/article/view/9544 Sat, 22 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Enhancing Arabic Reading Skills through the Make-a-Match Cooperative Learning Model: An Experimental Study https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/athla/article/view/83-100
Arabic plays a crucial role in Indonesia, particularly in religious and educational contexts. Despite its importance, teaching Arabic reading skills faces challenges such as limited use of effective learning models. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Make-a-Match cooperative learning model in improving Arabic reading skills. The study aims to determine whether the Make-a-Match cooperative learning model significantly enhances Arabic reading skills compared to conventional methods. A quantitative experimental design with a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design was used. The study involved 32 seventh-grade students from SMPI-PK Muhammadiyah Delanggu in the 2023/2024 academic year, divided into an experimental group (15 students) and a control group (17 students). Data were collected using a reading skills test before and after the intervention. The validity and reliability of the instrument were ensured through expert evaluation and Cronbach's alpha. The study found that the experimental group showed a significant improvement in reading skills compared to the control group. The average post-test score in the experimental group was higher than in the control group. The t-test results indicated a statistically significant difference, supporting the hypothesis that the Make-a-Match model is effective in enhancing Arabic reading skills. Additionally, the model improved students' social skills and engagement. The Make-a-Match cooperative learning model effectively improves Arabic reading skills and can be a valuable tool for educators in Indonesia. The study suggests integrating this model into the curriculum and providing training for teachers. Future research should explore its application in other subjects and contexts.
Widya Putri Azhari Copyright (c) 2024 Widya Putri Azhari https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/athla/article/view/83-100 Thu, 27 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0700
