Fazlur Rahman is a Muslim intellectual. His background has a deep influence on his interpretation. Rahman reads hadith texts with historical, social, and anthropological approaches. These three things become Fazlur Rahman's hermeneutical method. Methodologically, Rahman explains the reading of the hadith text from two points of view (movements) or what is called the back and forth movement. The first movement looks at the situation in which the hadith was revealed. The second movement looks at the asbabul wurud aspect or the socio-historical conditions of the society at the time of the hadith's revelation, so as not to cause bias in interpreting the hadith. The results show that the hadith should be interpreted as the Prophet's testimony about the case of a raped woman, not as a basis for discrimination against women's rights. In conclusion, the application of hermeneutics and reconstruction through double movement can change the meaning of misogynistic hadith.

Keywords: misogynistic hadith, hermeneutics, reconstruction, gender
Mamluatur Rahmah, Abdus Salam Copyright (c) 2023 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/8449 Sat, 30 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0700 Representation of Subaltern Women in Al-Karnak's Novel by Najib Mahfuz https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/6623
The post-colonial theory initiated by Gayatri C Spivak states that among the majority groups who become victims of the subaltern are women. Relevant to this problem, the purpose of this study is to examine the oppression and silencing of subaltern women and the attempts to resist represented by Najib Mahfuz in the novel al-Karnak. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. The primary source used by the researcher is the novel al-Karnak by Najib Mahfuz. The results of this study show that subaltern women in al-Karnak's novel cannot speak, meaning that even though Zainab's character can voice her oppression and put up resistance, there is no ear to listen because Zainab is silenced by the authorities. Two points prove that Zainab is unable to speak. First, Zainab is silenced by rules that are gender biased and inherent in society, such as limitations on women expressing opinions, women being prohibited from having higher education, sexual harassment, and stereotypes that demean women and women being the backbone of the family. Second, women's efforts to express the suffering they feel are wearing the hijab, working, and becoming a prostitute.
Amiroh Nichayatun Munir Azizah Copyright (c) 2023 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/6623 Thu, 28 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0700 Implementing Early Sexual Education as a Preventive Measure against Sexual Harassment in Children https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/8438
Educational Institutions must address the rising incidence of sexual harassment against children by systematic prevention measures, such as the early introduction of sexual education. Conducting this research is crucial in order to ascertain the extent to which early childhood education institutions are implementing sexual education at a young age in accordance with children's developmental stages and in a consistent effort to prevent sexual harassment against children. The research employed a qualitative descriptive technique, conducted between July and September 2023. The subject of this study is the classroom teacher, while the informants are the curriculum teacher, the health-responsible teacher, and the school principal of BA Aisiyah Cawas. The methods employed for data collection encompassed observation, interviews, and documentation. To verify the validity of the research data, the researchers used the techniques of method triangulation and source triangulation. Meanwhile, data analysis methods include condensation, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this study indicate that Early Childhood Education Institutions can effectively reduce sexual harassment by adopting comprehensive sexual education programs that specifically target early-stage sexual education. The implemented measures encompass acquainting children with anatomical structures and their respective functions, instructing children on independent genital hygiene (toilet training), educating children on permissible and impermissible contact with body parts, segregating sleeping arrangements by gender, exemplifying healthy interpersonal relationships, fostering adherence to hygienic practices, and imparting knowledge on safeguarding oneself against sexual harassment.

Keywords: Prevention strategies, sexual harassment, sexual education & children.
Khasan Ubaidillah, Giyoto, SF Luthfie Arguby Purnomo Copyright (c) 2023 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/8438 Thu, 28 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0700 Gender Representation in Elementary School Kemuhammadiyahan Education Books (Critical Discourse Analysis Cover of Class III-VI Kemuhammadiyahan Education Books) https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/6442
Constitutional guarantees and various formal policies cannot in themselves create gender equality and justice in real life. There is a term for gender-based development that measures development achievements between women and men. However, Indonesia is still very thick with a patriarchal culture that makes women tend to have fewer rights than men in work, education, politics, and the economy. This makes it difficult for women to develop their potential in various fields. This gender inequality can cause development not to be able to reach its maximum potential. Gender inequality is considered to hamper the economy. Slowing economic growth certainly hurts income, both at the national, regional, and per capita levels. This study aims to identify the picture of the gender development gap in Indonesia by collecting secondary data, which is then studied more deeply. The results of the descriptive analysis show that there are still gender disparities in almost all provinces in Indonesia. Furthermore, based on the results of inference analysis using panel data, this study concluded that the gender gap simultaneously has a significant effect on per capita income. Gender inequality variables that have a partial influence include the wages of women workers, female labour force participation, and gender development.

Keyword: Gender, Gender Development Index, Gender Inequality
Rahmawati Khoiriyah Copyright (c) 2023 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/8437 Thu, 28 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0700 Analysis Of The Level Of Adolescent Knowledge About Sexual Violence On Adolescent Attitudes In Sexual Violence Prevention https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/6606
Teenagers who should be the future of the nation are now a scourge for the wider community. The problem of sexual violence, exploitation and prostitution is currently rife throughout Indonesia. Sexual violence cases in Tegal Regency were ranked number three highest in Central Java. The objectives of this study include: a). To find out the level of knowledge and attitudes of adolescents in Tegal Regency about sexual violence. b). To analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of adolescents about sexual violence in Tegal Regency. The research method used in this study is qualitative method. The results of research from 150 respondents who have been interviewed, show that adolescents still have low knowledge about sexual violence. The average of them does not know that they have become perpetrators or victims of sexual violence. Just knowing they don't, let alone realizing it to take action in responding to this. Knowledge of sexual violence, greatly influences the attitude of adolescents. The lack of knowledge of adolescents about sexual violence has led to the low attitude of adolescents in supporting the prevention of sexual violence, especially in Tegal Regency.
Vika Rachmania Hidayah Copyright (c) 2023 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/6606 Thu, 28 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0700 Gender Voices in Indonesian EFL Textbooks https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/8436
Gender issues in the textbook is a crucial topic as the way students perceive gender in their daily lives might be influenced by what they have learned at school. This research focuses on analysing gender representation in two EFL textbooks used in Indonesian Junior and Senior High School. English for Nusantara, later called textbook 1, and Bahasa Inggris Work in Progress, later called textbook 2 are the titles of the textbooks to be analysed in this research. As the basis of this study, the theory or personal characters by Brugeiiles and Sylvie (2009) was used to analyse the pictures in both textbooks. Using mixed-method research approach, the researcher explored how pictures in both textbooks present gender voices by analysing the frequency of male and female pictures and also the types of activities, both in individual and group pictures. The study reveals that there is an imbalance representation of gender in these two aspects. The study suggests a further and detailed evaluation for EFL teachers in selecting appropriate textbook, specifically related to gender equality at school.

Keywords: EFL textbooks, gender bias, gender representation, stereotypes.
Nuning Wahyu Astuti Copyright (c) 2023 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/8436 Thu, 28 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0700 Gender Roles in Moderating Financial Literacy and Lifestyle in Financial Behavior https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/8439
Economic development aims not only for society's welfare but also to form broad-minded people with a mindset about financial management. Management can start with understanding literacy and carrying a daily lifestyle. Financial behavior can be reflected in various aspects, including spending styles, investment approaches, saving tendencies, and financial risks. Some social and cultural factors related to gender can also affect how a person manages finances. This study aims to determine whether gender can strengthen or weaken the relationship between financial literacy and lifestyle to financial behavior. The data used in this study is primary data based on the results of questionnaires collected from 150 respondents. The data analysis process in this study uses SEM-PLS analysis techniques with the help of SmartPLS software by making structural, measurement, and path models to test hypotheses so that conclusions can be drawn. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it is known that the latent variable of financial literacy significantly affects financial behavior. Meanwhile, latent lifestyle variables do not affect financial behavior. The gender moderation variable did not significantly affect the relationship between the latent financial literacy variable and the latent lifestyle variable on the latent financial behavior variable.

Keyword: Gender, Financial Literacy, Lifestyle, and Financial Behavior
Zulfanita Dien Rizqiana; Rahmawati Khoiriyah Copyright (c) 2023 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/8439 Thu, 28 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0700 Nature, Power, and Poetry: Unveiling Ecofeminist Narratives in Rena Priest's Green Literary Movement https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/8458
Ecofeminism, with its emphasis on the interconnectedness of ecological and feminist concerns, can provide a rich framework for understanding and expanding upon the themes presented in Rena Priest's selected poems, specifically "Tour of Salmonberry," "The Index," and "The Forest for the Trees." These poems, composed during the tumultuous period of 2020-2021, reflect the profound impact of global environmental crises, such as global warming, ozone layer depletion, and the greenhouse effect—issues primarily stemming from human activities.

Incorporating ecofeminist perspectives into the analysis of Priest's work adds layers to the exploration of nature, the life cycle, and the destruction of the environment as closely intertwined with human experiences. Ecofeminism posits that the exploitation of both women and the environment is rooted in similar power structures and encourages a reevaluation of humanity's relationship with the natural world. In the context of Rena Priest's poetry, this might involve examining how gendered language or experiences are interwoven with depictions of the natural world, and how both are affected by the same systems of oppression.

The qualitative descriptive method employed in the research aligns well with ecofeminism, as it allows for an in-depth exploration of the narratives present in the poems. By scrutinizing the intricate relationships between humans and nature as portrayed in the poems, the study echoes the essence of the green literature movement.

In conclusion, integrating ecofeminism into the analysis of Rena Priest's poetry enhances the exploration of the green literary movement's themes. This approach broadens the understanding of the relationships between humans and nature, shedding light on the interconnectedness of ecological and feminist concerns.

KEYWORDS

Nature; Green literary movement; Ecofeminism; Environmental preservation
Winarti, Anindhiasti Ayu Kusuma Asri , Evania Putri Setianingsih, Evania Putri Setianingsih, Kalyana Safira Sarah Darmawan Copyright (c) 2023 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/buana-gender/article/view/8458 Sun, 31 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0700
