The tradition is connected to the sacred water in the mosque well which is considered sacred by the community. Water as something classified as a profane form has been transformed into a sacred one in the view of the community. This is in line with Mircea Eliade's theory about the transformation of profane into sacred. Thus, this research aims to examine the transformation of value from profane to sacred through Eliade's sacred-profane theory. Furthermore, it will examine the implications of these value changes on people's social actions. This research is a qualitative type with data collection methods through observation, interviews and documentation. The main data source in this research is the kliwonan tradition carried out by the community at Jagabayan Mosque itself, while other supporting data is taken from references that support the research data. The data set will then be processed using the descriptive-analytical method. The results show that the change in the profane value of the water to sacred is due to the attribution of the well as a source of water to the sacred entity of the guardian who used to make it. While the implications resulting from it are the creation of the kliwonan tradition itself and the finding of a special attitude by the community towards the water entity that is considered sacred.

Merdita Rizqia Nikma Maula Copyright (c) 2024 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/shahih/article/view/8322 Mon, 25 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0700 The Social Construction of Shariah-Compliant Hotels: Exploring the Interplay of Conservatism and Politics in Public Policy https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/shahih/article/view/8877
This research emphasizes the promotion of halal tourism, with a specific focus on the hotel industry as a key indicator. The objective of this study is to elucidate the social construction related to Sharia-based hotels, delving into the intricate relationship between religious values, political ideology, and considerations of public policy. Additionally, the research aims to examine the compliance conditions associated with Sharia labeling within these hotels. Employing qualitative methods, the study employs content analysis within the framework of existing policies and social construction. Furthermore, it utilizes participatory approaches involving five Sharia property business actors to assess the extent of Sharia practices within the hotel industry in Semarang City. The findings reveal that the management and services offered by Islamic hotel businesses do not comprehensively reflect Islamic understanding and identity. It is noteworthy that many practitioners in the Islamic hotel industry tend to base their Sharia concepts on consultations with Islamic religious leaders. Additionally, the incorporation of Sharia rules across various sectors, particularly within the tourism industry, is identified as potentially fostering a standardization of values. In response, the study suggests that policies and regulations should prioritize principles of public justice and guarantee equal constitutional rights to mitigate such homogeneity and preserve cultural diversity.
Muhammad Adnan Copyright (c) 2024 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/shahih/article/view/8877 Sun, 21 Apr 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Beyond Indigenous Religions in Indonesia: Struggling for their rights https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/shahih/article/view/8790
ndigenous religions in Indonesia include several registered organizations that struggle for their community rights. However, their struggle seems endless because the majority has insufficient knowledge and perspective of indigenous religions’ belief system. This study examines the process of their struggle historically to unveil their efforts to obtain their rights as citizens. Employing a qualitative method is suitable for this study because it utilizes literature reviews to understand the historical story of indigenous religions’ journey during their struggle. This study shows that the communities of indigenous religions should be paid attention by the government because the supreme council court of Indonesia has claimed legally their existence but the sub-institutions in each region cannot fully imply the legal standing of the decision.

Ferdi Arifin Copyright (c) 2024 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/shahih/article/view/8790 Sat, 09 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Edible Insects: Islamic Perspectives on Entomophagy and Future Foods https://ejournal.uinsaid.ac.id/index.php/shahih/article/view/7670
Edible insects have gained increasing attention as a sustainable and nutritious alternative protein source.
