Publication Ethics

Jurnal Al-Hakim: Jurnal Ilmiah Mahasiswa, Studi Syariah, Hukum, dan Filantropi upholds the highest standards of publication ethics and adheres to the principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This statement serves as a guideline for authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher to ensure the integrity and ethical conduct of all parties involved in the publication process.


1. Authorship

Authors are expected to adhere to the following ethical principles:

  • Authors must ensure that their submitted work represents accurate, original, and complete research findings.
  • Data presented should be reliable and sufficient to support the conclusions drawn.
  • The manuscript must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Authors must avoid fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, and any form of academic misconduct.
  • Authors should not include unlawful or defamatory statements in their manuscripts.
  • All authors must take collective responsibility for the submitted and published work.

2. Editorship

Editors are responsible for ensuring that all submissions are handled fairly and professionally.

  • Editorial decisions are made solely based on the academic merit, originality, and relevance of the manuscript to the journal’s scope, without regard to the authors’ background, affiliation, gender, or beliefs.
  • Editors must ensure a timely review process and maintain transparent communication with authors.
  • Editors must maintain confidentiality of all submitted materials and ensure anonymity during the review process.
  • Editors will respect authors’ reasonable requests to exclude particular reviewers, provided such requests do not compromise an objective assessment.
  • The Editor-in-Chief holds the final authority in accepting or rejecting manuscripts, guided by reviewers’ recommendations and editorial judgment.
  • Editors are obliged to follow COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines in all editorial decisions and actions.

3. Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Al-Hakim: Jurnal Ilmiah Mahasiswa, Studi Syariah, Hukum, dan Filantropi undergo a double-blind peer review by at least two qualified reviewers.

  • Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, research background, and publication record relevant to the manuscript’s field.
  • Acceptance of a manuscript depends on its scientific quality, originality, and contribution to Islamic law (Sharia), legal, and philanthropic studies.
  • Review outcomes include acceptance, revision, or rejection. Authors are given sufficient time to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewers’ comments.
  • All manuscripts are checked for originality using Turnitin or similar plagiarism detection software.

Reviewer Ethics:

  • Reviewers must provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback.
  • Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents.
  • Reviewers must declare any conflict of interest and recuse themselves if a conflict exists.
  • Reviewers should not use unpublished materials from a reviewed manuscript for their own benefit.

4. Conflict of Interest

  • Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could bias their work or judgment.
  • When a potential conflict exists between an author and editor, another editor will handle the manuscript.
  • Reviewers who recognize any conflict must immediately inform the editors and withdraw from the review process.

5. Research Misconduct Policy

Jurnal Al-Hakim: Jurnal Ilmiah Mahasiswa, Studi Syariah, Hukum, dan Filantropi maintains zero tolerance toward research misconduct. The following are considered major violations:

  • Fabrication: Creating false data or results.
  • Falsification: Manipulating data, materials, or procedures to misrepresent results.
  • Plagiarism: Using others’ ideas or words without proper acknowledgment.
  • Improper authorship: Inclusion or exclusion of individuals without legitimate contribution.

If misconduct is identified:

  • During review, the manuscript will be withdrawn.
  • After publication, the journal may issue a Retraction, Correction, or Editorial Notice as appropriate.
  • The editorial board may also inform relevant institutions or funding agencies.
  • Repeated or severe violations may result in permanent submission bans.

6. Intellectual Property and Copyright

  • The opinions expressed in articles published in Jurnal Al-Hakim: Jurnal Ilmiah Mahasiswa, Studi Syariah, Hukum, dan Filantropi  are solely those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the editorial board.
  • Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reuse any copyrighted material.
  • Texts exceeding 250 words or reproducing figures/tables from other sources require written permission from the copyright holder.
  • All published articles in Jurnal Al-Hakim: Jurnal Ilmiah Mahasiswa, Studi Syariah, Hukum, dan Filantropi  are available under an Open Access model and subject to applicable copyright agreements.

7. Journal Management and Publication

  • Jurnal Al-Hakim: Jurnal Ilmiah Mahasiswa, Studi Syariah, Hukum, dan Filantropi uses the Open Journal System (OJS) developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) for manuscript submission, review, and publication.
  • The journal applies an Article Processing Charge (APC), and all articles are freely accessible online under an open-access policy.

8. Post-Publication Discussion and Corrections

  • Jurnal Al-Hakim: Jurnal Ilmiah Mahasiswa, Studi Syariah, Hukum, dan Filantropi follows COPE guidance for handling complaints and ethical concerns regarding published works.
  • Authors or readers may submit complaints or appeals to the Editor-in-Chief via email at jurnal.alhakim@uinsaid.ac.id.
  • Articles found to contain ethical or scientific issues may be retracted or corrected to maintain the integrity of the academic record.
  • Notices of retraction or correction will be published on the journal’s website with clear explanations.
