Current name of the journal is Al-A’raf: Jurnal Pemikiran Islam dan Filsafat. This name was based on International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) provided by ISSN National Center for Indonesia on May 25, 2016 and is available at https://portal.issn.org/resource/ISSN/2527-5119. The current name consists of Al-A’raf as title and Jurnal Pemikiran Islam dan Filsafat as subtitle.

Al-A'raf was published in 2004 in a fully printed version up to 2015. Since 2016, this journal has been published in two versions: printing and fully open system, using the Open Journal System (OJS) management. The journal is also famous among religious studies researchers for its quality in national level as proved by national accreditation. Since Volume 15, Number 2, 2018, Al-A'raf has been accredited Sinta 2 (ranked second) by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Number: 10/E/KPT/2019.
